Nîmes, capital of flamenco: the 35th edition of the Festival de Flamenco
From January 9 to 18, 2025, Nîmes will vibrate to the rhythm of flamenco with the 35th edition of its famous festival. This not-to-be-missed event, which places the city alongside Seville as one of Europe's leading flamenco venues, promises a rich and varied program in emblematic venues.
Flamenco in museums: between tradition and modernity
📍 At the Musée des Beaux-Arts (in partnership with Théâtre de Nîmes)
- Recital and strolling:
Perrate & Caracafé - De Utrera a las Tres Mil Tomás “Perrate”, heir to the great flamenco families of Jerez de la Frontera and Utrera, and Emilio “Caracafé”, legendary figure of the Pata Negra group, join forces for a unique acoustic recital in the heart of the Musée des Beaux-Arts collections. This exclusive performance blends tradition and openness, awakening the magic of collective memories.

📍 At the Musée de la Romanité (in partnership with the Theater of Nîmes)
- Un momento en el cante
Gregorio Ibor-Sánchez, emblematic guitarist of the Nîmes flamenco scene, invites Paco Santiago and Juan Pedro Fernandez “El Misto” for a rare moment of cante puro. This concert, offered within the museum's collections, promises an immersion in the essence of flamenco from the South of France.

📍 At Carré d'Art - Musée d'Art Contemporain (in partnership with the Festival de Flamenco)
- Performance: Carmen takes a break
Yinka Esi Graves, accompanied by Rémi Graves on drums, reinterprets the Carmen myth through dance, percussion and text. Inspired by Wu Tsang's film La gran mentira de la muerte, this daring exploration brings body and space into dialogue.
