January 24-26, 2025 - Carré d'Art, Jean Bousquet

23rd Festival de la Biographie in Nîmes: “Souvenirs d'aventuriers” (Memories of adventurers)

The Festival de la Biographie, organized by the City of Nîmes in collaboration with the nîmes booksellers association, will be held from January 24 to 26, 2025 at Carré d'Art - Jean Bousquet. This not-to-be-missed event, which attracts some 30,000 enthusiasts every year, welcomes some one hundred authors: historians, biographers, specialist journalists and many others.

A rich and varied program

During these three exceptional days, the public will be able to take part in captivating debates, enriching encounters, concerts, screenings and an exhibition. Book-signing sessions will also offer a privileged opportunity to talk directly with the authors.

2025 theme: “Memories of adventurers”

After exploring shared and childhood memories, this edition celebrates tales of adventure. Adventurous writers, or those who recount the lives of great explorers, will take visitors on a journey through their biographies and autobiographies.

Guests will include Rémy Marion, a specialist in the polar regions for over 35 years, who will present L'ours polaire, vagabond des glaces (Actes Sud). Sylvain Tesson will also be on hand with his two books published in 2024: Avec les Fées and Notre-Dame de Paris (Équateurs). Finally, Thierry Lentz will unveil the fascinating life of Charles Bedaux, an influential adventurer with a spectacular destiny, in an unpublished biography.

The 2025 co-presidents: two adventurer-writers

Cette 23e édition sera placée sous le patronage de deux figures emblématiques : Jean-Christophe Rufin, academician and travel writer, and Olivier Weber, journalist and explorer.

Join us in Nîmes for a festival that promises to transport you to the heart of the greatest human adventures!
