the Magne Tower

Adress : Place Guillaume Apollinaire Les Jardins de la Fontaine - 30000 Nîmes

The Magne Tower, the most imposing and prestigious tower of the Roman enclosure, once dominated the landscape of Nîmes. Its remarkable elevation made it an indisputable landmark, signaling the presence of the city as well as the imperial sanctuary of the Source, nestled at the foot of the hill.

Built on the foundations of an old dry stone tower dating from the Iron Age, the Magne Tower adopted a regular octagonal shape. Originally, it consisted of three superimposed levels, each set back from the previous one, resting on a solid foundation. Over the centuries, the top floor has disappeared, but it still sits at an impressive 32 meters high.

From the top of the tower, the view of Nîmes offers a striking panorama, offering visitors a unique glimpse of the city and its surroundings.  Website
